You're right. In spite of its tickytacky tourbus magnet appearance, Plymouth and the other affluent communities surrounding us are in much better shape. Our situation seems hopeless, sucked dry by the commonwealth's tendency to reward bottom feeders like rehab mill operators and the foster care industry in struggling podunks like ours. Our public library is gone and I can't get past that.

Let's be clear on the facts, there is only one Podunk and it's a stones throw from my house. The library part sucks, ours is alive and well thanks to wise spending on computers, videos and a sweet state sponsored high-speed internet link.
