What did the French do but enable the American Revolution to actually succeed? Short term memories it seems.

I recall singing in grade school, mid-'60's, La Cucaracha in Spanish, complete with "Marihuana que fumar" in the chorus. Of course, we were singing phonetically and had no idea. Neither did the teacher, the school admins, nor the PTA.
Many years later, my dad taught me a verse that went something like this:
Pancho Villa cuando viaje
Siempre usa dos wagones
Una para sus pistoles
Y otra para sus cojones

By defeating what was then one of the most powerful nations on earth, the Mexicans put the French on the road to becoming the cheese eating surrender monkeys they are today. On a sad note, had the French won in Mexico, they would have then gone to the aid of the Confederacy, and America wouldn't be burdened with that backwards shithole known as the South!

And San Francisco could have been the Gay Paree of the west. Oh, for what might have been.

Breaking news here Fnord, the Frenchies did win and hold a short term puppetry down Mexico way.

Yes they did, but they were eventually driven out. They didn't obtain a permanent, or even long term occupation.

Maybe it would have been better if they had stayed, the Monroe Doctrine didn't exactly produce stellar results over the long run.

Once France lost control of Haiti, they no longer had any interest in North America, hence, the Louisiana Purchase. New Orleans was not a port that had any value anymore.
