All the Reasons the Rio Olympics Are Fucked.  Spoiler:  Most (though not all) of them have to do with raw sewage.

Listening to BBC WHYS, on the commute home this morning, heard one of the Aussies discussing some sort of  synchronized "flush".   Evidentially, fluids were leaking from the ceilings and walls.

Fuckin' "ungrateful" poofs...should've funneled them to "host families" in the favelas.

Sounds like the entire atheletes village is destined soon to become some sort of low rent favela.

Why is the First World so surprised by the eventual outcome of rampant bribery and cronyism? The Third World sure isn't.

I agreed with something Colin Cowherd said today on his show: Los Angeles should be the permanent home of the Olympics...the U.S. is a more stable (and safer) country, and L.A. has the weather, stadiums and infrastructure. (Basically, almost every sign Atlanta hosted the Olympics just 20 years ago is gone.)

London did a great job when they had the games, Beijing did too.  Tokyo can afford it, but there's just way too many people there already.

I can't imagine squandering time and money and comfort to witness such a sweaty primate spectacle. Last time I did was 50 years ago.

I totally agree.  It's nothing more than a globalist boondoggle about which practically no one gives a rat's ass.

As a golfer, I practically hurl everytime the PGA tells us how golf at the Olympics will "grow the game".  Right, just like adding equestrian show-jumping grew that sport in the US.  I feel sorry for the kids who work their asses off for four years to compete in gymnastics, track and field, and all the other even less glamorous sports that have no professional revenue stream beyond the Olympics.  Sending our millionaire basketball players and now our millionaire golfers to compete for the good ol' USofA is a sick joke.

Could it be, then, that the lack of money generated by amateur wrestling is the real reason for it having gotten bumped from the roster of Olympic sports?

Perhaps Vince McMahon is waiting in the wings to raise wrestling to professional standards, and get it reinstated.  Could happen, right?

What a fucking joke, just put the shit in Greece and leave it there.  Tourism is about all Greece has going for it anyway.

Only if they go back to allowing any and all artificial aid, like the ancient Olympics.

Maybe the most oft quoted example...

Long jumpers in the Ancient Olympics reached further distances by carrying small weights in their hands, which propelled them forward in mid-air when they swung their hands back. The practice is banned in modern athletics.

So we are now not only the world's policemen, but also the world's TSA agents. Funny, but I don't recall the IOC paying the US Government to provide security services.

The very example I was thinking of.  There were a few other bizarre ones but that's the one that sticks in my mind.

Javelin throwers used a sling device to achieve greater distance.  In their defense they used the same tool to hunt/battle as well.

The Nazis really had some cool stuf. Too bad they over engineered their equipment designs till it was too hard to produce effectively and efficiently and keep running. German build quality is a myth.
