Ryan finally gets one right.

I've become convinced that Trump will continue to slough off responsibility for his actions until his critics (me included) learn to ignore his intentional distractions. Trump is a master of using a new outrageous act to distract from an even more outrageous prior act, and he's been getting away with using that tactic for several years now. But the problem with using the same trick exclusively and repeatedly is that people eventually wise up to it.

This week's shit show about revoking security clearances, and Trump's saber rattling with Iran, are both intended to change the dialogue away from Trump's treasonous actions relating to his meeting with Putin. and that's because Trump's miscalculations concerning America's relationship with Russia are serious enough to bring down his presidency.

But Trump can't change the subject unless we all go along with it. The way you defeat a troll is by refusing to give it what it wants.

(04/11/2018)  WASHINGTON ― House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) announced Wednesday that he would not seek re-election in November, prompting the normal convulsions of Washington praise for Ryan and his “legacy.”

What does he give a shit?  He should be required to say "this asshole that I refused to stand up to and is destroying my Party" instead of just saying "he".

Oh, I quite agree. I wasn't meaning to compliment Ryan. I was merely using him as a stepping stone into the main issue; Trump's tactical use of distraction to scatter the focus of those who oppose him.

Update; it seems I'm not the only one who sees the script playing out this way:

This is jaw dropping. Another blatant example of Trump's war on truth and accuracy. As long as this asshat is in power, you'll need to count your change, read the fine print and demand a hard copy, signed and dated, of every promise.

White House leaves Putin support for Trump out of transcript

Rachel Maddow shows how the White House transcript and video of the Trump Putin press conference in Helsinki leaves out a question asking Putin if he wanted Trump to win the election, part of a broader campaign of information warfare the Trump administration is waging with Russia against the American people.Jul.24.2018

Trump won't pay 92 million for military parade in DC.  Blames the Local Officials (read Democrats).

President Donald Trump said Friday he had canceled plans for a Veterans Day military parade, citing the “ridiculously high” price tag — a day after U.S. officials said the November event could cost $92 million, more than three times the price first suggested by the White House.

He even makes a lousy dictator.

Donald and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Manafort guilty on eight counts. Cohen guilty on eight counts. The end game has (finally) started.

...But even if Trump pardons Cohen, it would have the same effect as immunizing him, meaning Cohen could be forced to testify about everything Trump has ever done. The president has no good options — Tuesday August 21 marks the beginning of the end of Donald Trump’s presidency, and possibly his freedom.

Interesting legal situation here; from the frying pan into the fire.

According to Paul Butler, law professor at Georgetown University, ratting would be the best course for both "gentlemen".

There are two ways that convicted felons Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen avoid spending many years in one of those wretched places. One is to be pardoned by the president of the United States. The second is to deliver up Donald Trump to Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Trump said, after the Manafort and Cohen convictions, that he “feels badly” for both. Manafort’s pardon seems virtually a done deal. But Michael Cohen has already implicated Trump as his co-conspirator to violate federal campaign financing laws. Providing more evidence to Mueller would be any lawyer’s recommendation to Cohen, to reduce his time in the pen.

But 45 has limited legal options.

But even if Trump pardons Cohen, it would have the same effect as immunizing him, meaning Cohen could be forced to testify about everything Trump has ever done. The president has no good options — Tuesday August 21 marks the beginning of the end of Donald Trump’s presidency, and possibly his freedom.

Let's not forget Manafort is not off of the hook, hung jury on many of the charges.  That may have been intentional and Trump cannot pardon him for convictions that haven't happened yet.  There will be a re-trial and Manafort damn sure knows it.  I cannot quote an example of a double pardon.

That's my favorite part, that and Manafort is going to spend a lot of time going between jail to a court room.
