I've been reading my way through the H. Beam Piper lexicon and he loved to make mention of carniculture.
I have no problem with lab grown protein. We already consume vast quantities of algae grown in vats and used as thickener in thousands of products. I just wish they (like the soy manglers) wouldn't call it the same thing as already existing food. It's not "steak" or even really "beef" or "chicken" even if it shares some of the same gene pool. Sell it on it's own rights, don't try to pretend to be something it's not.
