“This block was symbolic of history, the history of art, which I am trying to free myself from. I discovered that this is not possible. It is burden which I must always carry,” he said.

LOL.

Seriously, I laughed to loud and long the cat came in to see what was going on.

With a broad topic like that, I presume it's okay to add more (Moore) stories featuring irony?

Eh, why not? That story hasn't much legs on it's own. Poking fun of performance artists isn't even fun any more.

Immorality isn't what it used to be, that's for sure. Carpet bomb orphanages and nobody bats an eye. Give a social climbing harlot a pat on her bolt on ass and you are the next Charlie Manson. 'Tis a twisted age we live in for sure.

Still that was a pretty lame attempt at heroics.

For fuck's sake I've lived a worse life in peace-time military drills.

Yes, yes I know his message was "blah-ditty blah", but seriously folks if you want to BE legend you have to do LEGENDARY things.  Containing yourself to a small area in a cozy museum is far from legendary.

I'm still trying to figure out if he was really just playing the long con. Really, his "performance" was really *true*. It shows that when you make bold assertions you need to do bold work to succeed. Whining, slacking off, drawing pictures and self publicizing will all prevent you from realizing your goal. Focus, blood, sweat and tears is the only way to get shit done. I mean, if you look at the pictures he was already 80% of the way to freeing himself, so nothing was holding him back but his own failure to focus and buckle down. He lacked neither the tools nor the opportunity. "Grit" isn't a word I have ever heard applied to someone of his generation, but it's never been needed more. Instead he declared himself a failure and expected someone else to swoop in and save him.

If I was the owner of the property I would have just said "Nope, now it's time you learn the lesson you are trying to teach. See you tomorrow with your glass of water and slice of bread."
