You know, it's a band that I like, but due to the nature of the band (they change members like most of us change socks) there are a lot of songs that I'm not crazy about.  This one I like, but I have to be in the right mood.  The video is total shit,  but hey, they're Canadian.

Here's probably their catchiest song.  Leslie Feist was in the band at this point, so you might recognize her in there.  One thing I like about this album is that they've got such a complicated wall of sound that each time you listen to it you can get something a little different from it, and yet when you're not paying attention it's still decent-sounding.

No, I don't think that's entirely true,  I have a lot of younger gay friends that see me as a link to a past they are quite interested in, especially the punk aspect, as it relates to the gay influence.  I guess some younger gays distance themselves from the previous generation, some don't. You also have to remember, HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of the older generation are dead. The same generation that made it possible for the new gays to be out.

Although I can't speak for the entire gay community, I have learned over the years there is a huge disparity between str8 perception of gays and the reality. 

It's not about "flaunting" for me. I happen to be a right-brained abstract type thinker, whose feet are planted firmly in the air...I can also pass... I also like to fuck with people's minds... It's just people finally being able to be themselves. When a person comes out, there is a huge sense of relief AND a release of feelings and emotions that have been bottled up for years. Personally, I believe that my early closeted years led to my cancer.  I was extremely unhappy. Like all people, some of us are outrageous, some are introverts....

When I first came out, drag queens scared the shit outta me...  I believe when everyone realizes we are just like anyone else, they will get over their fears and prejudices...I must say however, people like Bobby Trendy and Matt Lauer's BF, Cujo, make my skin crawl...These are the ones most often put forward in the media, fueling the nelly stereotype.  They are also the poor dears that can't hide it and are subsequently the victims of violence....As for most on this board, I believe they are reasonable and sure enough of their own sexuality and are not threatened. 

I believe you have an under-lying question here, and the answer is, it's not about wanting to be the "only gay in the village" as G.O. suggested, but more of a dislike of certain voiced (mis)-perceptions of San Francisco...and unfortunately, I got too personal with it, which I regret. Not only for the target of my derision but also that the others here had to put up with it...from now on, you will notice a "kinder gentler" Lurker...and no, that isn't sarcasm in any way, shape or form.
