Let's be clear, this in no more privacy intrusive than the small towns I grew up in where everyone knew you by at least look if not for voice and gait. 

If you don't want to get in trouble than don't do anything you can get in trouble for.

It's really not that hard to behave and have good manners regardless of whether it's D.C. or Portland.

I was taught to comport myself as a gentleman.  The old man was a lifer, 33 years of service.  I never sat before the women sat, I opened doors, helped the old, did my duty as a son, friend, father and husband.  It isn't that hard. He was the same.  My son, now as well.
