Something to think about as you pass the "seasonal items aisle" for the next few weeks:

If that craving for chocolate sometimes feels like it is coming from deep in your gut, that's because maybe it is.

A small study links the type of bacteria living in people's digestive system to a desire for chocolate. Everyone has a vast community of microbes in their guts. But people who crave daily chocolate show signs of having different colonies of bacteria than people who are immune to chocolate's allure... (read more)

Well, are you the sort of person who gives up the Whitman Sampler only if we pry it from your cold, dead hands?

In fact, the study was delayed because it took a year for the researchers to find 11 men who don't eat chocolate.

Really?  I don't eat chocolate - Not only due to a lack of craving, but as I also refuse to support slavery (Unlike that self-righteous cunt, Oprah Winfrey).  Still, the article does make me wonder if it might be a similar bacteria which makes me crave beer.

The best chocolate in the world, IMHO....

BTW, is slavery why it's brown?

I think Dec is referring to this. Personally, I'm sticking with some cruelty-free Godiva. And given the finding's premise, all sorts of food cravings might be explained this way, even fermented cereal grains.

Right now, I'm just glad Lurky didn't post "Chocolate Rain," and decided instead to go with something between Thrill Kill Kult and Julie Brown.

Africa has always had slavery and probably always will.  Boycotting chocolate, or coffee won’t change that.  I don’t give a shit about slave produced coffee, blood diamonds, or child labor sweatshops in Asia.  Child slavery/labor/prostitution will end when the parents stand up for their children and work for a better future for them.  Until then, screw them! Poor parenting results in fewer offspring surviving to adulthood; this is a good thing for any species when the stupid and unfit have less impact on the gene pool.

Chocolate Rain?  Hmmm sounds good, never heard of it...

Far from being idealistic, I realize full-well that my own choices will have no major impact on the situation; However, your argument on the issue is hardly likely to persuade me to abandon my own principles and finally purchase that diamond tiara which I've had my eye on for so long now.  {Drifting off into "fantasy-land:"  "There she is, Miss America . . ."}

As you can well imagine, I'm reeling in shock here.  You of all people not caring about the suffering of those living in cultures different from our own?  Tell me it ain't so, Baby!  What have they done to corrupt you since our last meeting?

I'm reminded of the line from The Adams Family "Are they made from real girl-scouts"? I find the concept of Slave-Free chocolate hilarious.

I knows, Lurky Smurf.

As for Opsec's link, I'm surprised they omit better known brands like Lindt and Ghirardelli, the latter of which should be second nature to all the SFGate linkers around here.

That was a page from the hyper-link which I posted above.  The guy who runs the site is just now getting around to some long-neglected up-dates.  I'll mention those two brands to him, and let him do his own research on them (I'm too busy down-loading porn, and replacing my old Genesis MP3's to be bothered).

Don't forget Godiva and the previously depicted Fox's U-Bet (it's kosher!). "Old" Genesis Collins or Gabriel?

I was just being cutesy. Also, this is "Chocolate Rain." (didn't want to post it, as it's just too pathetic for the Street)

Somebody had mentioned Godiva to me before, and - Not being much of a chocolate eater - I forgot all about it.  I'll have to "kite" him another e-mail.

"Old" Genesis Collins or Gabriel?

Everything up to "Wind And Wuthering" (Which was a rather half-assed album itself in my obnoxiously less than humble opinion).  I still need to find "Trespass" and "Trick Of The Tail" before I'm satisfied; Or, I could just go back, and dig out the damned compact discs (But, I would like to cut down on the number of discs laying about the desk at the moment - My cat keeps knocking them on the floor).

Dec, you know the lonely man on the corner is a dope dealer...

Fuck, I missed you. I gotta get Indy back, too.

Yeah, that doesn't help much.  I can only handle Phil Collins when he keeps his mouth shut and his ass behind the trap kit (I am willing to at least admit that he's an excellent percussionist).

Fuck, I missed you. I gotta get Indy back, too.

Hey, I missed you, too; And, most of you (Not you, Pony-Boy - I know that you're still reading even if you can't post, you compulsive ego-maniac).  I had Indy's e-mail address, but it's gone along with everything else that was on that hard-drive.

You might find this interesting.

Other than that, I decided to 'do you a solid.' Trick or Trespass? (sorry, couldn't get "All the King's Horses") Happy Halloween.

EDIT: Links redacted. My host was getting bitchy about bandwidth for offsite links.

Nah, tribute bands don't do much for me.

Well, thank you very much for that.  Now, I can focus all of my efforts on the pornography (I really hate to multi-task when I'm on a porn-quest).
