He doesn't. But it helps. Drunken male teens act like a wolf pack, in any country. They'll seek out perceived weakness. It doesn't have to just fall into their laps.

Dude was a busy-body who decided to reprimand drunk teenagers for being drunk teenagers on the holy ground of a war monument (always a bad idea if unarmed.) For this story to give me some good frisson he would have had to have been a war veteran, instead of a 20-something schlub. That would have been awesome, the FSB would have ripped the two followers limb from limb in the Lubyanka as only Russians can do. The leader they would have made President of the new Great Russian Empire in like 30 years.
Is it just me, or is Russian the last place on earth with metallurgical plants?
