La Traviata.
Strange staging, took me a while to figure out some of it, then I found it compelling, especially the mystery man idea. Never saw anything like him in a Traviata, and he, with another stage prop, works.
Anna Netrebko sings and acts wonderfully and is utterly fap-worthy*...but Trav isn't exactly an incentive to fappage*.
Thomas Hampson's Germont, also splendid. Rolando Villazon? He sings well, but I wasn't jazzed by his acting...maybe the director and not Rolando?
Five stars, will watch again.
*+ technical terms you'll find in exactly no other opera reviews, ever.

Swift Boating, 19th Century style. A splendid Don Basilio by Samuel Ramey. Think sleazy advertising exec.

And all this time I thought William Shatner was the worst singing celebrity in the world.

The youngest boy broke out with this today and I can swear he's not heard it since he was eight; his rhythm and pace were perfect.
