It's a method of long-range detection of high-mass objects.  You yell some crazytalk eastward across the Atlantic, for example, at the same time that a liberal Presidential candidate is moving towards you from Europe or some shit.  Now, depending on how many voters you detect bouncing off of him, you can calculate how close he'll come to winning the White House.

Julia Louis Dreyfuss never needed to do that. She's been a billionheiress since birth.

I'm surprised she still even works. One of the few people in Hollywood who are truly nice (despite the asshole she played on Seinfeld).

Apparently he didn't have the inside track since he finally sent staffers to look into it the day AFTER the announcement.

BTW, did you guys see that the Clinton delegate that did that McCain ad apparently didn't realize he is Pro-Life now.

I have very little respect for any Hillary Clinton supporter that would vote for John McCain unless they're open about the fact that they're only voting because they want to get a female in a high ranking public office.

As a voting woman, who would love to see a woman in high-ranking public office, I heartily concur. I feel insulted by the choice of Palin -- it strikes me as a cold, calculating tactic to pull Hillary supporters over to the dark side. If women fall for this blatant manipulation then it only confirms the stereotype that we're all a bunch of emotional airheads who can't think for ourselves. It's disgusting.

That's what I meant earlier by "the cooter vote."  That's my name for people who'll either vote for McCain because of their bitterness over Clinton not being nominated, and/or those who'll vote for Palin because they want a woman elected to high office and don't care what the woman's positions are.

I hope and expect that the Cooter Vote won't be large enough to affect the outcome of the elections...but I could be wrong, 'cause goddamn, people can be mighty fucking stupid.

I have expounded before on the theory that the first woman who gets to be President will be a Margaret Thatcher-type conservative.

Nice post George...

Having watched people vote for Thatcher that never, ever voted Conservative turned my gut on the political process in the UK... and they did it because she was a woman... then watching people vote for Reagan with his track record a couple of years later when I'd moved back to the states... ack.

STEPHANOPOULOS: But she has no national security experience.

It cracks me up that folks who LOVE Obama are complaining about her lack or experience....

The left is in a panic, at this point. Here McCain has a FEMALE, former union member (whose husband is a current union member) , pta mom who seemingly has no dirty laundry to air.

If Biden does his normal attack-dog stuff, he's going to come off as the bully. They can't touch her. It is not like Obama can complain of her lack of experience, she has just as much as he does.

The "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuits" want their woman in office as soon as possible. If Obama wins the election, it is 8 years before Hillary will get another shot. If McCain wins, then it is only 4 years... It is that simple.

Also, since when does the VP have to be qualified? Bush Sr. won with Dan Quayle, for chrissakes!

election is over.. thanks for playing!

Edit: Wasn't Kerry and Gore up by double figures after the DNC? Just curious... Just wait till the commercials of Biden slamming Obama and praising McCain come out... it's all que que for the left from here... pwned... make your time...

So Biden attacks McCain and marginalizes her.  Problem solved.  And if you think that her lack of experience plays in McCain's favor, you're delusional.  The only two things McCain had going for him were that he was a Republican and he had a lot of experience.  The rest is a house of cards.

This is a controversy largely created by the media.  During the Democratic election there were people running around looking for these so-called PUMAs, this class of 30-70 year old Democrat women who were insanely angry that Hillary was passed over.  They were only able to find a handful out of the whole bunch.  They were able to find many more women who felt insulted by Palin's nomination because it insults the intelligence of women voters.

ptah13 wrote:

Which is why Dan Quayle has become synonymous with "stupid long-shot candidate transparently chosen for political reasons", and why so many in the media are referring to her as a "Dan Quayle pick".

The commercials of Hillary slamming Obama and praising McCain have already come out, to no effect.  They also tried a commercial with a whole slew of Democrats praising McCain, to no effect.  Even if the new ads of Biden slamming McCain came out, it's easily innoculated.  The next meme that will kill McCain?  "The McCain of 2000 would not vote for the McCain of 2008."  Enjoy your Kool-Aid.

It's not explicitly listed in their platform, probably because they consider it a given.  Check out the Introduction section and the extensive statehood primer.

This?

The Alaskan Independence Party's goal is the vote we were entitled to in 1958, one choice from among the following four alternatives:

    1) Remain a Territory.
    2) Become a separate and Independent Nation.
    3) Accept Commonwealth status.
    4) Become a State.

The call for this vote is in furtherance of the dream of the Alaskan Independence Party's founding father, Joe Vogler, which was for Alaskans to achieve independence under a minimal government, fully responsive to the people, promoting a peaceful and lawful means of resolving differences.

You circumvent the board's system for converting quoted pictures into links so that quotes of posts with pictures don't dominate the board.

BBCode

Code:

HTML

In general the BBCode IMG tags will be converted to links on quoting.  I don't know if there is any special processing otherwise going on, but I've noticed that.
