Aw shit. Now McCain's gone and done it.
Gawd, this thing just gets better every day.

Buried in all the funny is a good point: McCain thinks he has to be in Washington to "save" the economy, fine. But why suspend his campaign? Why can't his running mate fill in for a few days? She has no duties in Washington. Hmmm.
He's also publicly asked Obama to agree to cancel the first candidates' debate, scheduled for Friday. I don't know what the response was (if any).

He's completely unprepared to debate and this is a stalling tactic.

It's funny how the GOP seems to be dodging and hiding this election season. You realize their sitting President did not attend the convention? Has that ever happened before? Hurricane Ike must have seemed like a godsend.
I hope Friday's debate goes off as planned. Whatever your political leanings may be, that scene is going to be painful.

The Commission on Presidential Debates has rejected McCain's proposal -- the debate will go on as planned.

The hell with the presidential debates. For sheer entertainment value, I'm looking forward to the vice-presidential debates. Go Sarah!

I think Obama would rather stay away from any attempt to solve the problem so he can claim he had nothing to do with it if it all goes to hell. This is the ultimate self-serving political move. In other words, stay on the fence as long as possible, like he has done during this entire campaign.
Having the candidates vying to become the next president out there on the stump touting their grandiose plans for the country seems a little self-absorbed when the economy is going down the toilet, don't you think? McCain thinks and I agree, they would better serve the country by rolling up their sleeves and helping to craft the fix, a fix that one of them is going to have to live with.

I'll bet you still believe in Santa, too.

It is all political theater. McCain has no active roll in crafting the structure of the bailout. Nor does Obama. This morning before he suspended his campaign, during a campaign stop at the Clinton Global initiative, McCain even rolled back his rhetoric on what his roll would be. Explaining his part would be to bring Republicans and Democrats together to agree on the exact same additions that Obama, other Dems and Reps had already previously stipulated.

and the economy is "suddenly" going down the toilet. Gee I'll bet you think it's coincidence that Goldman-Sachs survived over Lehman, Morgan, etc.

Of course it didn't "just happen". The Dems have been working with FMNA and FMAC for a decade to allow them to buy loans given to underqualified buyers by requiring that welfare and unemployment payments be counted as income. I've already posted John McCain's 2005 speech on the Senate floor in support of a bill he co-sponsored that could have prevented this whole mess. Don't expect any of your favorite left wing media to report this.

phreddy, you now must asshat yourself. In addition to being tedious, such repitition violates several ordinances that apply here, published in the Secret Book of Rules. I refrain from linking to my response to your post, not out of any sense of humility but out of respect for the law.
By endlessly passing on the droning of the right, you have earned the following citation:

Poor Dave. He's getting a lot more bitchy as the years go by. Clearly he's never had a guest cancel on him before. He sends guests home without any air time because he runs out of time regularly.
I'm sure he would have ripped Obama a new one if he had done the same thing. And invited Rush Limbaugh on to help fill the time.

"He's not here, but I got a new word." Classic Dave. The only thing missing is a watermelon with "McCain" written on it in Sharpie being dropped from the roof.
