I just got back from the polls (5th District, GA).  I was in line for an hour and twenty minutes, which is the longest I've ever waited to vote.  Diebold machines, no visible problems.

Time to start drinking and watching the news.

I just voted 15 minutes ago in my shitty little nigger town in Alabama [3rd District (I think)]...even though the place was packed, it took less time for me to vote than to order fast food.  I made sure to cast my vote for...wait for it...Bob Barr and Wayne Allyn Root (who, because of Alabama ballot requirements, were listed as "Independent" instead of Libertarian)

I've taken tomorrow off to recover from the voting process.  I figure I can watch the results all day on Bloomberg, vote after market close and commence to drinking.

What a great country we have!!

I just voted in my extremely liberal district.  The polling place is my son's school, so we walked to school together.  The lines were much shorter than I expected, but I also live in a place where white liberals were gung ho to vote early so they could talk about how early they voted with other white liberals.
My polling place has always been well-run, so there were no glitches.

For my district there were 7 paper machines and two electronic machines.  The wait was longer for the touch screens, so I voted paper.  The highlight for me was not voting for Barack, but voting against the retention of two judges that I think are absolutely awful.  Talk about activist judges!  One is clearly biased towards Jewish attorneys (and no, it's not just racist paranoia), and the other thinks she doesn't have to follow the law (even though it's worked in my favor on occasion, I still think it's not right).  Of course, usually no one votes for or against the judges, so they are usually retained as a matter of course.  However, I'm hoping that these two ass-clowns will get a slight ego-bruise in seeing that someone actually took the time to vote "no."

Also, my state wants to spend $80 millions dollars on a constitutional convention.  I voted "no" with the Republicans on that one.  Fix or enforce what we have, but don't waste taxpayer dollars on what is essentially a vanity project.

And there you have it.  I took the day off, but have to go in for a birthday party.  Hopefully I'll be back home before people start converging on downtown Chicago for the big rally.

Early voting takes so much of the fun out of it.  I could have gone in for early voting (like nearly 2 million (!) GA residents chose to do), but I kinda like to go stand in line on polling day and jaw with the other folks in line.

That's what early voting was like. I stood in line for 45 mins and had a great time chatting with little old ladies and hippy kids. Today, by comparison, my family members who waited to vote got in and out quickly without much chance for commiseration.

Yeah, when I'm not fighting for justice, I'm busy shaking it for dollars.  One form of whoring is as good as another.

I talk of freedom
you talk of the flag
I talk of revolution
you'd much rather brag
and as the decibels of this disenchanting discourse
continue to dampen the day

the coin flips again and again, and again, and again
as our sanity walks away
all this discussion though politically correct
is dead beyond destruction
though it leaves me quite erect

and as the final sunset rolls behind the earth
and the clock is finally dead
I'll look at you, you'll look at me
and we'll cry a lot
but this will be what we said
this will be what we said

Look where all this talking got us, baby.

On-topic, I walked in and out of the polls with no wait whatsoever.

They said there were lines big lines, earlier.

I went and voted around 11am. After the "early morning" folks but before "lunch hour". Always seems to work for me.

I got a cool sticker for voting. I felt real good, even though some old lady asked me, "you didn't vote for that awful negro, did you?" while I was walking out.

I replied, "have you seen his cock?". She turned white and sat down. She might have died. My polling location is one of those old-folks meccas. One of the biggest "over 50" deluxe villages in the state. I swear they get 8-10 ambulance runs a day, there. Even with having their own on-site medical facilities.

There must have been 7-8 hens crowded around on the benches where everyone was parking. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them weren't writing down license plates. One car next to me had tons of old punk bumper stickers on it. That had to amuse those old cows....

I stand corrected.  Four callers calling that chinny bastard a "great American" is quite enough for me.

I did learn things:

"all indications are that this is going to be a very tight election."

"millions of Democrats have turned their backs on their party."

Barack apparently wants to just abandon our troops in Iraq with no funding and no way home.

I went down to the mail drop off center (we mail our ballots in Oregon).  I miss going to the booth with my slips of paper etc, I have to say.

I went with my son, who was voting for the first time.  He is a dual citizen, so we can always bolt back to Europe...heheheheheh.   anyway, the photographers and news people were all over him as was dropping his ballot in. I was cracking up.  We headed back to the digs, and he went out to see friends...

Exit polls aren't great in a close election, but when it isn't neck-and-neck they are very good predictors.

They are good at destroying parties.  At one time they destroyed the Democratic party...then the rednecks all became Republicans.  Looks like they'll have to start they're own party now.
