When I was a kid we had a wasp nest in back of the basketball backboard, and while my dad smoked them out, we bundled up and used badminton rackets to swat them out of the air and step on them.  It made for hours of fun, but in retrospect I don't know how we managed to not get the shit bitten out of us.  We did a lot of dangerous things for fun back then.
