My thank you note to people who add High-Street as a friend on our MySpace page has a reference to Cruel.com.  Myspace turns the reference into a hyperlink.  Cadenhead has let the registration lapse and someone else registered the URL.  Check it out.

WTF???  Rogers... damn, one of us would have bought the domain, and at least linked it to High Street.

SERIOUSLY WTF!?!??!

I think we need to spam that guy's email and try to get him over here.  That ad is most pathetic.

I sent him 2 emails offering to buy it when he first said he was quitting. No reply.

Funny enough, domain search still shows R.L. Cadenhead as owning it....

I'm just fucking around at the domain while we decide what to do with it. I wanted to see how often it gets typed in these days.

The exploding sledgehammer video got 100,000 hits in one week from StumbleUpon. Apparently, idiotic Mexicans with explosives are more popular than anything I used to publish there.

Just so no one can say we never asked: How much you want for it?

There's something fishy about Seminude Roomie Wanted guy. If you search Google and Google Blogs for "WOULD A GUY AS GOOD LOOKING AS YOU," you find the same ad has run several times the past year.

I'm thinking he has an industrial freezer in there chock full o' applicants.

I'm not actively looking to sell it. The domain's worth six figures. Don't know how high in that range, but that self-assessment scares off prospective buyers.

I think Cruel.com needs one link, one link alone.  Step up PlagueFather, step up.  Own up to your stepchildren that you abandoned.

How do you figure that?  It's been dead for a year now and before that it wasn't making you enough money to justify keeping it alive...

Depends on where you put the decimal.

The web is like gasoline, things are valued down to 1/10th cents.

Strong one-word domains in the .com namespace are worth a lot of bacon.

The domain name is worth what someone will buy if for.

WTF, I'll bite on this weenie's offer.  My guess is it's a scam that combines collecting titty and ass shots with money-order rip-offs.  Or it's a giant spider.

I'll second that, one of our portfolio companies sells these for a living - you'd be shocked by the going rates even today.

So why have you been sitting on it for a year?  Do you figure its value will keep going up?

I concede that you know more about it than I do but it seems to me that the fact that it's a single word .com domain isn't enough to make it worth over $100k.   Scarcity adds to value but there has to be some reasonable base value there in the first place to add to (unless of course the we are talking about collectibles).  Other than another humor site (which you were unable to make very profitable after several years) what would be the use of Cruel.com to make it worth a significant sum of money?

That's easy:  in times of recession advertising is more valuable than ever, you have to get your piece of a much smaller pie.  The clothing design firms still have deep pockets and "Cruel(.com)" is a great counter-culture monikor; you know the type "show your uniqueness by buying the same clothes your friend wears".

I can think of more than a dozen chick products and one or two "fab" boy products that would excel in this situation.  With advert budgets in the millions a couple of hundred K for that NS is nothing.

That's not even considering a movie or TV show...
