Monkeys don’t belong in areas where they will have contact with people. When I was twelve, my family visited a tourist trap in Florida that involved a boat ride through a jungle. A troop of monkeys jumped out of the trees and swarmed over the people in the boat grabbing anything edible. The boat operator said this had never happened before; to have dirty wild monkeys the size of large dogs run across your lap and grab food out of your hand is an unpleasant experience to put it mildly.

Was it the Monkey Jungle in Miami?
When the Jungle expanded to 30 acres, Joe opened it as a tourist attraction. But the Java monkeys -- territorial by nature -- attacked the tourists.

It was a place called Homosassa Springs, which has since been taken over by the state of Florida and turned into a native wildlife refuge. Apparently the monkeys were removed and I imagine ended their lives being tortured to death in medical experiments.
