The nuts and religious crazies have taken over the Republican Party. I am unable to vote for a decent person running as a Republican because they would be beholden to the crazies. Even if the person were an honest non-pedophile whose main emphasis was on personal responsibility and keeping the government out of people’s private lives, I just couldn’t do it. Right now, the only thing the Republicans can do is act as obstructionist assholes and hope that Obama and his allies in Congress are unable to fix the mess the Republicans caused. This is their only hope to keep from going the way of the Whigs.
Obama is damned no matter what he does; if he were to let things run their course without intervening there will be tremendous suffering and he would be remembered as the stupid evil heartless negro who let millions suffer. Spending lots of money to try to fix what the Republicans broke will saddle America with a huge debt; it sucks ass, but I’m not brilliant enough to come up with any other option. Fiscal conservatives for generations will damn him as the negro who presided over the biggest spending for bling in the nation’s history. We can only hope it (the massive spending) works and keeps America from becoming a has been country like England.

It's been interesting watching the Right-wing consolidate its hold on the Republican party. Moderates and small "c" conservatives are going to feel increasingly unwanted in the party and be forced to either establish another party or run the risk of being isolated even further.
Frankly, I'd love to see a real conservative party form. They'd knock the hell out of fundies in most states and finally drive them back into the catacombs.

Fnord, that's what I've been telling my conservative friends. They have to hold the people that they elected accountable. It's simply not acceptable to just sit back and hope the Democrats fail. I guess because most of the elected Republicans are middle class (or better), and none of this shit really effects them, they feel it's ok to just play games with the economy and America's future. Here in Illinois we have a $9 billion budget deficit. We have the highest gas tax in the nation, Chicago has the highest sales tax, and property tax is killing us. Everyone wants to squeeze a little bit more from the middle class, but there's nothing left.

The oddest thing about that article is that quotes 2, 3 and 5 are absolutely true. Why is she being denigrated for saying those?
Number 1 I have heard several times before but cannot back it up with my own knowledge of the bill.

See, you are quoting this shit as truth because you heard it somewhere. Try to find an independent source that is not Rush Limbaugh and you're bound to run into some problems.
For example: ACORN - not a kernel of truth. This is typical right-wing strategy, which is to embellish the facts to give the propaganda an air of legitimacy.

Listen here Eartha Kitt, I flat out said I couldn't back up the first quote. The other three are in the fucking bill.
Quit kneejerking and go to sleep.

Number 3 is not in the bill either. Again, this is another right wing tool...association. They took the actual bill and linked it to ideas in a book by Daschle. None of the shit from his book is in the bill. It's just right wing conjecture.
...and don't even pretend you read the whole bill...none of the members of Congress even made that claim.

Wuh? "2,3 and 5 are absolutely true"?
* many members of Congress have "a real aversion to capitalism."
This is one of those muddy generalizations that's too eely to pin down as false ("absolutely" or otherwise); but I'd like to know how many "many" is supposed to be. How many Marxists and Socialists were elected to Congress last November? What states do they come from?
* the stimulus bill includes a measure to create a "rationing board" for health care, and after the bill becomes law, "your doctor will no longer be able to make your healthcare decisions with you."
I was not aware that any health care reform measures had been snuck into the stimulus bill. However, since you say this is "absolutely true," Scotty, I'd appreciate your pulling that language from the bill and posting it here so we can read it for ourselves.
* the "Community-Organizer-in-Chief" is also orchestrating a conspiracy involving the Census Bureau, which the president will use to redraw congressional lines to keep Democrats in power for up to "40 years." When the host said he was confused, noting that congressional district lines are drawn at the state level, Bachmann [in an impressive non sequitur] said Obama's non-existent plan is an "anti-constitutional move."
It is true that the 2010 census process is being looked over. It is also true that partisans on both sides are claiming that the other side wants to "politicize" the process, but neither party has any proof of that as yet. This last one could be perceived as "absolutely true," as long as you are a political extremist.
I'd also like to point out that the Right tried to mock the concept of "community organizer" during the presidential race, and it backfired in their faces big-time. Ms. Bigmouth apparenty has not been keeping up with the news.

Politicizing the census results is usually done at the state level and both parties are guilty of it. If she had half a brain she wouldn’t have brought the subject up.

The fact of the matter is that for far too long people have been looking for a savior... They're looking for some person or ethos to support which will make their lives safer, better and more fulfilling... Obama campaigned on this need as much as he could and now he has people making his image out of cupcakes, stomping it out of snow, and speaking of him as if he's some sort of savior to the ills of the world... Sadly, Obama lacks the tools necessary to bring peace and prosperity to the world no matter how much he may want to... The Bush administration and the Republicans in general did the exact same thing by scaring the shit out of people then offering themselves up as the answer to the world's problems.... All we've been doing for the last three decades is handing our freedoms and our money over to people who repeatedly use them irresponsibly... We just need a smaller more constitutional government....

You know, Dirckman, people usually at least make some attempt to make their talking points at least seem to be relevant to the thread. Just sayin'.

And when it comes to redistricting, it's *always* done at the state level. Gerrymandering is nothing new and isn't the province of any particular party.
In any case, HKG's original point is correct: she's a nutbag. She was the one who was calling for investigations into whether people in congress are anti-American or not, then lied about it when asked about it, even though she'd said it on Hardball, so it's not like it was hard to prove.

Ooooooooh, I love this argument. I'm a hard working (60+ hours a week) middle-class mom with full healthcare coverage and I still have to pick and choose when treating health conditions, because I can't fucking afford to go to the doctor much of the time. So I guess the difference is who's doing the rationing?

Amen, amen and amen...
Also, perhaps folks wouldn't mock the whole "community organizer" if they were given another one of Obama's leadership positions to mock... oh, wait, that list isn't very long, is it? (har har)
I'm thinking it won't be long before the whole "savior" thing backfires, as well. The guy has already bitten off way more than he could ever chew.
Sadly, neither party really offers much hope, anymore, of the government envisioned by our founding fathers. We are a long way off-course and it looks like, under the guise of getting us back on track, we've gone off the map.
I have this friend that is a real Obamanation call me yesterday, nearly in tears. On a side note, if you knew this guy that statement would mean more, he's a big, burly, Italian guy from Philly. Anyway, he says to me, "man, can you believe our government actually stepped up to bat today and spent nearly a TRILLION dollars on US, to save our country!!!". I asked if he understood that the money wasn't laying by the sofa in a gym bag in the oval office, it has to be borrowed from places like China and paid back by "US" and he ripped me a new one, saying yesterday was one of the greatest days in American history as it was the start of Obama "saving us"....
He went on about how my grandchildren will read about this when they are in school and I should be proud to be a witness to a great moment in our history. I said, "well, I know Chinese grandchildren will be reaping the rewards of moments like yesterday, that is for sure".
The American Dream is lost. That is what my grandchildren will read about in their history books.... wait, I take that back. Knowing the government we have now and what is to come, statements against "the great fire sale of the american dream" will soon be "thought crime".

You know, I don't mind if people disagree with the stimulus, but I get sick of people not even bothering to learn the concept behind a Keynesian stimulus, and that goes for both sides. I don't consider myself an expert on economics, but it's not hard.

I agree with O+ on this thread.
Why is it, when anything anti-left is posted, HKG is all, "take it to Drudge" and "if it doesn't have homo-bathroom sex or kiddie porn it's NOT HIGHSTREET", then posts this.....
She (and her girlfriend Tojo) might be the two biggest hypocrites on this board, when it comes to this sort of thing. Any time you point out their guy is full of shit and inept, you get slammed and told this isn't the place, but they are oh-so-quick to post anything political they happen to agree with.
Of course, I'm sure O+ will be quick to censor this.... so read fast before you, too, get condemned for thought crimes!!!!!

Enlighten me on how spending 30 million on Nancy Pelosi's "save the mouse" pet project stimulates the economy?
My only complaint are about all the lies, but I'm not that worried about it. Even the mainstream media, that I bitched about for bias for years, is starting to show signs of cooling on The Man. Unless some real miracle happens, we'll only have 4 years to worry about it. The laundry list of misleading statements and outright lies is already a yard long and the guy is only a month in.
It should be a good show! After having Bush for 8 years, it will be a relief to watch some other tard flounder in the White House!

You're right and I'm sorry for saying so.

That's funny as fuck. I appreciate you for doing it, even if it was at my expense.
