I got the chance to play with one of these tonight for 20 miles or so.  I wondered what was coming up behind me that was so short.  The Boss kept telling me about the children in our back seats and how that meant I should slow down.

Those are beautiful cars...  I dropped by the Sturgis Mustang Rally a few weeks ago and was pleased to see a few people show up driving the GT.

Honestly, I think the new Mustang is the best looking 'stang since 1972.  (I do harbor a bit of an affection for the Ford-Escort-looking one from around '90)

EDIT: A convenient reference

This was the first time I'd seen one driving.  It's unusual for me to be able to see over the top of another car from inside my car.  When we stopped for gas in Lordsburg he said it was his third fill up since Lost Wages Nevada that morning. My passenger seat rev limiter commented on how loud it was.  If I wasn't so cheap mine would be louder and the neighbors would be unhappy.  I loved listening to the camaro while driving under the freeway.  When I had to replace the headers I went ahead and put on new glass packs.  It was never the same.  Maybe in ten years I'll be able to justify replacing "old" exhaust parts.  I think I'll answer the phone "Hello Passenger Seat Rev Limiter." Instead of "Hello boss lady." and see how that goes over.

Funny you should mention the early seventies Mustangs...  The seventh car in on the right side of the photo is sitting in Sturgis with a For Sale sign in the window now...  I stopped to gawk at it the other day and wished that it was red or black instead of white..

At speed doing anything else wouldn't be wise.  Also, every time you're asked "How fast are we going?" the proper answer is 95.

Expect us to believe 1.) this occurs infrequently in the Salior household?, 2.) acknowledging voluble female protest beyond, "Blow me. Next time, you drive." - isn't futile? 3.) you are entirely housebroken?

The correct way to handle a woman's complaints when you're driving "too fast" is:

1) Put the gas pedal on the fucking floor
2) Explain that you'll stop when she shuts up
3) When she shuts up, decelerate to X + 5mph where X is the speed you were going when she started freaking out

Yeah, then she leans over to look at the speedo.  Her head and shoulders putting half the steering wheel and the gear shift out of reach.  I know this from experience.  It's better to say 95 every time, fast enough to be believable and slow enough not to start the screaming.

There are relativistic effects to be factored in to your calculations.  You just weren't travelling fast enough when you delivered said ultimata.

I only keep copies of CDs in my car.  CDs are too delicate to keep the originals in a greenhouse-on-wheels.

Well, none of those, actually.  I just don't usually drive at outrageous speeds with the wife in the car... I don't enjoy it, since although she will sit there quitely through it, she clearly doesn't like it, and so the fun's kind of out of it.  Now, if she bitched, then it might be fun, but, alas, no.  Instead, I save my joyriding for when I'm alone and can really 'up' the danger lever and truly savor the thrill.  Besides, I like to lean over into the passenger seat on tight right-handers and I can't do that if some bitch is sitting there.

Any song that rhymes "donuts on your lawn" with "Tony Orlando and Dawn" has got to be in the top 10.

But don't forget "Takin' Retards to the Zoo" from the same album.  I'll post the vid in a couple hours--BESS blocks Youtube at work.  Fuckin' BESS.

I was thinking SLR lines when I first saw it, but since you mentioned it, if I squint just right I do see a lot of Corvette styling cues....
