Well, at least he was truthful on the application.

That's a lot more than you could say about many of CHP's finest.

Well, we sure think Ponch is a fine officer!

He has since returned to Muncie, to maintain his reserve officer status.

He obviously does a fine job keeping the lawbreakers in line in the land of the corn.

When I worked for the federal government, their Inspectors (think: investigators) used to ask us if we'd ever in our lives tried illegal drugs, even smoking a joint, EVER. We were also asked if we knew---or even heard in office gossip!---of any past or present illegal drug use by other employees. We always suspected it was a trap, and answered that we were all clean as a whistle, whether or not we were. Who knows what would have happened to an employee if he/she came clean and admitted he/she smoked one little doobie 40 years ago but never "sinned" again after that. Safe to say the employee wouldn't have received a medal for honesty. I understand that now Inspections "only" asks about the last 20 or 25 years. Liberalizing their standards, I guess. har har

Sometimes, just every once in a while, it's groovy to be infamous!

I know someone who works for the feds and was stupid enough to answer truthfully that he'd used certain drugs 10 years prior...he had to go to rehab in order to keep his job.  Idiot.
