I smoke pot right in front of my 12 year old boy (not often, but it has happened), and he's a straight-A student who gets Student of the Month and other honors (winning talent shows, science fair, etc.) so often, I'm running out of room for it all. People on the board can vouch for this, because I post blogs about him with proof. He learned in 2 days how to make websites, and makes money doing it. He has an animal care side business, and he does well with that, too. He's an excellent cook, and a responsible human being. He already knows what college he wants to go to.

But then again, I don't STICK HIM IN A CLOSET.

if you're going to sit and defend drug use AND irresponsible parenting by the simple merit that "your child is straight A culinary genius who wrote the internet and you smoke weed" then why you don't extend it to all the fucking losers out there who systemically torment, abuse, torture their own children every single fucking day because they're to fucking dumb to put the pipe down?

issues?  yes.  i had drug using parents who were abusive and i had a marriage fail because my then-wife decided that coke was more important.  and most of my childhood friends OD'd or wrecked their cars/bikes and died or, perhaps worse, became "friends of bill" and turned into weird coffee swilling fonts of the most negative positive thinking i've ever encountered.

beyond that, i am just as tired of the dope apologists as i am of the fools who think america can ever be a "national socialist" society.  it's moronic and counter productive to any sort of rational thinking.  as far removed as those two issues are they are exactly the same with regards to how dumb they are.

You'll have to excuse Dusty, as he's one of those people who don't believe in addiction.  I'm not so simplistic as to believe that drugs are drugs are drugs (or users are users are users), but I've seen first-hand the devastation that addiction leaves in its wake.  Suffice it to say that it isn't an easy subject to categorize.

Every addict I have known, and I have known tonnes, have had a prior mental, psychological pattern that can be traced.  I have little sympathy for addicts, yes and I will be the first to admit it.  Just the same, I have seen many just step away from it, and do something with there lives after they dealt with the underlying issues.

I was a terrible drug addict myself for a lot longer than I like to admit. I got to see some weird shit. But people are people, and it's like drugs amplify a person's personality. If they're an asshole, there's a big problem. Like they'd put a kid in the closet with or without the drug.
