A question: I now seem to have the capability to set the viewing permissions on banners. Is it acceptable for me to set my own submissions to viewable by all, or should I leave that to Pale?

I'd give that call to Pale. He does most (if not all) of the banner work and maintenance so to my way of thinking he should be the one to set 'em loose. (Pale, be nice.)

As far as I'm concerned, you can do what you want...but it will only last until I swoop in again. As long as you don't take it personally, then do whatever the fuck you want. Anyone at a 'staff' level on HS automatically gets a member-displayed banner. The ability to switch it to universal view may not be limited to me, but it IS supposed to be my domain.
If you have particularly strong feelings about a certain contribution, then feel free to message me. Otherwise, I will subject any new things I find to the same principles I have always used. Comic Sans is the font of morons, shit adapted from the NSFW thread is iffy, and anything with the wrong aspect ratio is instant trash.
Overall, we've had a raft of lameness, lately. I, myself, am partly to blame for not contributing. I have a new job and it takes my time. HS deserves better, since it's really the only graphic that people see regularly. Keep that in mind, when you design one. We have a lot of lurkers, and there's no knowing what they've seen beyond a general count of displays. My wish is to have things thoughtful, irreverent, and slightly twisted. If all you can come up with is tits and snatch, then go fap. If the rest is swiped from MCS or Space Ghetto, then at least put some comment on it that brands it for local use.

Yes, yes, yes, no, on the last series. The 'cold sore' thing depicts nothing of value. Spin that wheel again. I don't particularly LIKE the grapes guy or the mantits thing, but--in keeping with an attempt at transparency--it's not entirely up to me. We'll see how they do, vote-wise, if people actually start doing that again. I may personally get sick of them if I see them too often, but with the rotation cycle, it's unlikely.

Well, technically, there is. It's sorta arbitrary, but if you look at the banner statistics page, you will see nothing higher than a -9 (both of the ones presently there are not shown, but not yet deleted). When we had fewer banners and less voting activity, the threshold was -6 (the quicker to weed out Lurker, Redacted, etc). What else was the stats page created for, but to determine how popular a banner is? If you know some better way to separate the wheat from the chaff, then feel free to let me know.
I will probably ignore you, as no banner you may ever have created--and I don't remember any--is in current rotation. It's like someone who doesn't pay their taxes bitching about how the IRS is run.
