They attacked Blogger, too, but Google actually planned ahead for this kind of eventuality and has a huge infrastructure. Hardest hit was Twitter, which, it is becoming more clear each day, is running off of a workstation under someone's desk.

While I don't like many things about Google I definitely admire their infrastructure planning and execution.

I was just noting the irony of one of my friends posting to facebook that it wasn't Twitter's fault, they were under a DDOS attack. Well, Facebook seems to have recovered quite nicely. After the whole "my passsword is 'password'" thing, I'm starting to wonder how after millions of dollars in extra capital later, the Twitter guys still haven't managed to purchase people who know how to keep a web service running. People's tweets from a few days ago are just now starting to show up.

As a non-Facebooker, non-MySpacer, and non-Twitterer, I'd like to nominate whoever brought them down for "Man of The Year".

That Joejob angle doesn't smell right. But I am with AladdinSane on this one. Give the man a prize.

Well, I use FB and Twitter. I noticed nothing. Except that my brother's virtual zoo ate the zookeepers & customers.

Facebook agrees with your instincts. Haven't seen any recent statements on this angle, though botnets seem to be the focus at the moment.
