Skip Planet Terror and go straight to Deathproof.

*EDIT* And the association is incorrect, Planet Terror is a Robert Rodriguez film, Death Proof is the Tarantino flick.

A summary of "Death Proof."

Yack, yack, yack, yack, yack, violent deaths.  Yack, yack, yack, yack, yack, 20 minute car chase. My least favorite Tarantino flick. What really sucks is the story had potential.

My eManLove stands unrequited.

That summary exemplifies the grindhouse theatre second film experience to a T.  People went in expecting Dogs or Bill and not the homage to the type of film they made.

Death Proof is a great film for all its perceived flaws in the eyes of people not familiar with grindhouse offerings.

I'm the only guy left in a family of 50 women. The last thing I expected was to spend two more hours of my life listening to more "hen talk." However, if that is the Grindhouse experience, then I stand corrected.

If anyone happens to catch this film, I'd be gratified if you'd post your opinions.

It looks to be right up our alley.

I saw "Death Proof" a week or two ago (Thank you, Netflix) and enjoyed the hell out of that one, too. I had avoided Tarantino flicks until now because they seemed, well, cheesy. I was correct, of course, but oh so wonderfully cheesy they are, and funny as hell, to boot.

Heh.

Scotty's fucked-up URL  When I used to say that I was really into grindhouse films, nobody knew what I was talking about. Now they'll think I mean the Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino double feature. It's like when Green Day made punk mainstream, you always had sort of assumed that punk would never get near the Top 40 because it was so often very shitty, but very shitty in a way that you loved.

Quentin Tarantino understands the beauty of that shittiness, and his half of the movie, Death Proof is, in many ways, an amazing approximation of the old exploitation films, but with an unmistakable QT vibe.

Any help with the link anyone?
...You're welcome, Scotty.

I believe Taint could not love it because of the abundance of tits.

I got Jackie Brown not too long ago, not sure why it took me to long to see it in the first place, but that was a good one, too.

Salma Hayek would convert the gayest man on the planet. At least for the 5 minutes she is in the flick.I consider her dance the sexiest non sex scene ever.

Salma Hayek is hot, but my appreciation of her beauty is truly on an aesthetic level only. She's a good actress, though, and I've enjoyed what few productions I've seen her in. As for all the tits, well, they're obviously there to move the storyline along.

And, yes, Dusk til Dawn was great.

Salma walking around town in Desperado was better than her stripper scene in Dusk til Dawn.  Hot.  No blonds for me.

It's isn't Salma's tits that are her biggest asset, it's her hips. What other actress even has hips any more? They are all anorexic little bois.

It seems that Quinten Tarantino will a-buse his position at any opportunity to satisfy his foot fetish.

Eh, it's a matter of opinion.  Yeah, her hips are great; But, I've all-ways been more a "fan" of the Salma ass.

I've got a bit of a foot fetish myself, so I don't really care.  His movie, his call.

Eh, it's there, but it doesn't get in the way of the stories so I've never minded.

BTW, Hayek's naked dance in From Dusk Till Dawn is dead sexy even from a straight female's POV--right up until she sticks her toe into Tarantino's ugly phiz.  Now, if it'd been George Clooney instead...

Yes, a beard. Sexy Salma Hayek plays Madame Truska, a mysterious carnival worker who reads fortunes, hangs around in sultry lingerie and just happens to sport a big ol' ZZ Top-worthy beard......

I literally just got home from "Inglourious Basterds". It was about as much fun as any film about violence, bloodshed, and tyranny could possibly be. Oh, and totally over the top.

Having said that, it wasn't nearly as gory or violent as his other flicks, but it was a helluva lot of fun. And O+, if you haven't seen it yet, catch it at the Castro. That movie in that setting, preceded with the fabulous organist, is definitely a night out.

In all fairness, BJ Novak did get to play the stereo-typical, self-conscious, Ashkenazi as Little Man* for a few minutes there at the end.  Mister Ames here plays the stereo-typical, whiny, Ashkenazi best though.  Bravo, good sir.  An ex-cellent per-formance.

* A cute enough name; But, I think that we should in-stead start re-ferring to micro-phalluses as "Madoffs".
