I saw this story and had the feeling there was more going on than the person let on.  Crappy corporations often accumulate a collection of bad apples because people with better prospects move on.  Was she mouthing off to friends at work about a possible discrimination suit based on her race or gender?  Had she become a bitter old lady who made work an unpleasant experience for everyone around her?  Is she showing early signs of Alzheimer’s and the company had no other option but to fire her?  Until more information comes out, there is no way to know whether she is a victim or whether her firing was long overdue.

Sad but typical. I appreciate the reticent logic to Fnord's remarks, but this IS Taco Bell, not Bear-Sterns. It's not just the "good people" who move on, but everybody who eventually finds a 'real' job, something with more security, a future, better benefits, the ability to save, etc. I'm sure most of us, regardless, have some idea of what a "negative performance review" must be like for a fast food establishment. I suppose she was lucky enough, way back when, to keep her job when the place was bought out by a chain.

I might also point out that if you've been at the same rung of employment for 30+ years, your workplace exposes you to gun violence, and the current management is engaged in railroading you out the door, then these might otherwise be construed as "hints."
