I'm drinking a pale ale with an amberish hue of my own concoction.  I call it the Red Shift pale ale.  Crisp and refreshing, with moderate citrus notes from the Cascade hops and a smooth, silky mouth feel.

I just had a Hossbrauhaus Festbier tonight in DC and it had the biggest diacetyl kick I have ever had. It was like a nice Marzen with two pumps of movie popcorn butter. I sent it back. Yuk!

I don't care for diacetylic beers, and take great pains to make sure My beers don't turn out all buttery.

...beer ain't like wine, for the record; you can't just snap your fingers and whip some up.  Beer is far more complex and sophisticated.

It's OK, these things happen when they push production up for Oktoberfest and don't include time for a diacetyl rest. I washed the flavor out of my mouth with a Rogue Chocolate Stout and all was good.
