I had to go to Phoenix for a few days on business so I could switch back over to shipping frozen foods for U.S. Foodservice.

Hi, Smoochies!
I was checking in periodically, but I didn't want to use my laptop in the truck. It's nice and all, but dusty and dirty conditions are bad for electronics. Besides, it was nice to be away, and out of cellphone range and mostly away from the computer.
Phoenix sucks, but there's the cutest town on the way called Wickenburg. It looks like a movie set of an old Western town.

I had the opposite experience: I went to LA and Palm Springs for the week between Xmas and New Year's. I wanted to see if I could work (writing for the various blogs and news sites I work with) while out of town. It was easy, as it happened, which means I'll be hitting the road much more often now.

Phoenix is LA Jr., with all of LA's problems and non of it's good points. Phoenix has smog, freeway snarls, urban sprawl, graffiti, illegals, and much of the criminal scum that left California to avoid California's three strike law. You couldn't pay me to live in that shit hole.

That's funny you said that, because that was my estimation of the place as well. It's like a ghetto area of SoCal without the beach. I was in the industrial area mostly, and I got a bad vibe. Before this trip, I had only seen the inside of the airport.
