There's an Ethiopian legend that say when God created man, it took three times to get it right. The first man he made, from clay, was removed too early from the oven and when God saw how pale the man was, God tossed him to the north. On his second attempt, he left the man in the oven too long, and that man God threw to the south. Finally, on the third attempt, God pulled the man from the oven in just the right amount of time and that man God settled in Ethiopia.

I'm stoned. I've always liked that story.
