Florida really is part of The Twilight Zone where WTF stuff is normal. On a site about fucked up people that's on my list of places to surf, over half of the items are about people in Florida and most of them are too depressing (without any redeeming humor or novel WTF value) to repost here. One that has a bit of WTF value is this story about a family who reloaded a deactivated WWII grenade with the predictable result.

Below is the Google cache of the page as it originally appeared. I don't know how long this will last before it's updated to reflect the current page.

Description:
GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE DENTAL HYGIENE PROGRAM PROUDLY PRESENTS “PEDO WEEK!” IN CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL CHILDREN’S DENTAL HEALTH MONTH
The Gulf Coast Community College Dental Hygiene Program will host “Pedo Week!” in celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month February 22-25, 2010, at the college dental clinic. The Student American Dental Hygienist’s Association (SADHA) at the college is organizing the event and invites children ages 3-12 to participate in a complimentary dental hygiene appointment, including a dental exam, cleaning, oral hygiene instruction, and any necessary x-rays. Children and parents will receive information on childhood decay prevention, when to expect changes from primary to permanent teeth, proper brushing and flossing techniques, and dental sealants.
The purpose of “Pedo Week!” is to raise awareness about oral health and provide an opportunity for children in the community to receive dental treatment with no cost to their families. The event is designed to provide a fun, positive environment for children to learn how to care for their teeth and receive necessary dental treatment without feeling intimidated.
“We feel very fortunate to be able to offer this service to the community. Developing good oral health habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits will contribute to a lifetime of healthy and strong teeth. A healthy mouth may improve a child’s overall health as chronic dental problems can lead to other general health concerns,” says Gulf Coast Community College Dental Programs Coordinator Laura G. Justice.
To participate in this event, call Debbie Pringle at 850-872-3833. Appointments will be scheduled based on availability, and a parent or guardian must accompany the child during the entire visit.
Sponsors of “Pedo Week!” include, Trident, Plak Smacker, Premier Dental, Publix, Johnson & Johnson, Off the Wall Screen Graphics, Outback Steak House, Colgate, Dr. Claussen, D.D.S., Dr. Walters, D.D.S., Dr. McWhorter, D.D.S., and Dr. Wall, D.D.S.
Location: Health Sciences Building Dental Clinic

I would pay $5 to see a hidden camera video of the conversation that resulted in Pedo Week's name change.
