April 3, 1942 Honolulu Star-Bulletin
The Easter season in Hawaii coincides the year with the manufacture of "bunny" masks designed to provide gas protectionn for infants. The hoods are being made here by agencies working in cooperation with the office of civilian defense under the supervision of the department of chemical warfare. All questions relating to civilian gas protection should be referred to OCD headquarters at Kaahumanu school, telephone 6473. In the picture Mrs. James R. Riernan of OCD press division demonstrates how the hood is used.

Is that like when Odin sacrificed himself to himself on Yggdrasill, the World Tree? From "The Rúnatal"...
I know that I hung on a windy tree
nine long nights,
wounded with a spear, dedicated to Odin,
myself to myself,
on that tree of which no man knows
from where its roots run.
No bread did they give me nor a drink from a horn,
downwards I peered;
I took up the runes, screaming I took them,
then I fell back from there.

My bad - I thought it was Danny Cipriani and he plays for the London Wasps not the other way around. They were playing against Bath when he broke it.

Imagine how surgeons might have handled those kinds of breaks in the "old days."
