This discussion is totally inappropriate for the NSFW picture thread, but...
Every president who let the national debt continue to swell beyond the point where it could be reasonably serviced, deserves a hard kick in the ass, particularly neoCON "I-never-met-a-vulture-capitalist-I-didn't-like" Bush Jr. Now the erupting national debt and annual deficit figures are essentially academic; the country is bankrupt, and the feds are merely rearranging chairs on the deck of the Titanic. Next: hyperinflation and another Depression. Think: Weimar Republic, but without much of a manufacturing base to restart the economy. I don't see any way that America's fundamental insolvency CAN'T pull the citizens down hard sooner or later. Who knows, we could all be "Okies" before the dust clears.
P.S. Look at the U.S. Unfunded Liabilities on the National Debt Clock website. Compare with Total National Assets. We are so screwed!

That unfunded liabilities number is worthless without mentioning what the projected time is. I think it's either 30 or 50 years.

Or maybe it's just that half the people are of below average intelligence wherever you go, and "people of average intelligence" are actually pretty fucking stupid.
I an a serious brain power elitist , of course, and off my meds, so don't mind me, nothing to see here, while I'm doing the NYT crossword in five minutes.

In response to tojo2000, regarding U.S unfunded liabilities and projected time...Whatever projected time you want to use, the debt is never, ever going to be payable at the current value of the dollar. However, if the dollar TANKS...
