I also suspected this was completely fabricated and still harbor my suspicions.
Funny thing about the Germans. . . not only do they have Hells Angels and a remarkable per capita participation in fantasy sports leagues, they are freaking bonkers about American civil war reenactments as well as dressing up as Native Americans. And some of the most authentic roots and soul music you've ever heard originates from Bavaria and Austria. All in all not a bad swap for the nasty Ren Fair experience they dumped on us..

Germany has had a branch of the Hells Angels since the mid-70's. Fuck, they invented meth. Storm Troopers drug of choice, no seriously. I knew a few German Speed Heads in the day.

We issued speed to our troops too. Benzadrine was supposed to be the answer to modern warfare until soldiers became so irritable they were as likely to shoot each other as the enemy.
I was talking about nasty, dirty, shake-n-bake meth. I just see Germans as doing some clean white chemical from a sealed ampule. I envision even the dealers there wearing white lab coats. But deep down, I know better. The whores around Weissbaden for example were skankier than normal, but I just attributed that to the nearness of the army base.
