Not that I give two shits about a used up actor - but she spun him up by telling him he couldn't see the kid and then illegally taped his predictable rant. (if you listen he refers to that a few times in the rant)
Safe bet he has an iron clad pre-nup and she's trying to make as much noise as possible to get a settlement out of him.
Don't forget, this was a private conversation, pretty sleazy to sell it to TMZ. My guess is that she has been working him from the very first day she met him.

Who cares what his real life is like, that's his business; that's like saying "don't let that EMT save my life, he's a jerk".
None of this is our business at all and the very taping of personal phone calls is illegal in California. It's shameful that individuals and corporations are trying to make money off of his personal problems and in the process trying to ruin his professional career. His civil rights have been trambled by capitalistic endeavor, hopefully he shreds them with the inevitable forthcoming lawsuit; in my opinion he should own the Enquirer after this.
I doubt than any here can claim to never have been a complete ass when mixing personal issues with booze. So what if he's an ass when his personal life is in shambles - what business is that of yours or mine?
Fact is he's a pretty damn good actor when cast in the right role.
And the final truth is, listen to those tapes a couple of times and you can tell they have been edited.
So why again is it that you want to deny him his livelihood?
(Disclaimer: I've never met the man, I don't know much about him and I could not name more than 2 or 3 movies he acted in. However I get the gut feeling the guy is being railroaded in text book style)

I agree that Mel has a pretty high testosterone level, and he tends to blow up in a nasty way. But clearly this bitch has set him up here - that's exactly why she can be so calm, as she knows she's taking him for a ride, and once he's wound up she continues to goad him all along the way. This is not the first time she's set a guy up and cleaned him out, either... she's a pro.

While noone would support domestic violence, I mean, except maybe a few people on here, my feeling is that she is a total bitch and he is to be pitied for getting involved with her in the first place. She played him, she made up shit, she taped him when he was obviously drinking and talking shit and instead of doing the humane thing which would be to say, hey, cowboy, let's cool off and talk about things another time, she fucking goaded him into just losing his shit and tape recorded him doing it.
I think he's probably got an alcohol problem, but he sounds more powerless and used up than anything. She doesn't sound like a victim of anything but greed.
