Sure, the earth could support billions more people if we convert all wilderness areas to cropland.  We could live in a nasty crowded polluted world full of toxic chemicals; where skin conditions, cancer, lung disease, and birth defects are the norm.  I and a sizable portion of the world's people don't believe we have the right to crowd other species out of existence, and I don't want to live under the terrible conditions that will come about as a result of unrestrained population growth and resource consumption.

I love you fnord, but if you think you are committing a crime just by existing, please punish yourself appropriately.

As these masses become educated and modernized (if that is possible) the birth rates will drop in those locales also.  India and China are givens; they will be net import economies sooner rather than later.  I have my doubts about the societies in warmer climes.

Inevitably the human condition will find a way to moderate over-population; through war, disease or homosexuality the genome computer in all of us recognizes and counters the situation with the (usually) appropriate means.

And if that doesn't work, I hear that NASCAR intends to go international...
