In 2007, based on statistics from 18 dancers over 60 days, it was noted that female lap dancers earned the highest tips around the time of ovulation, during the most fertile period of their menstrual cycle, and the lowest tips during menstruation; the average difference in earning between these two times amounted to about $30 per hour. Women on the pill earned overall less than those not on the pill. The results were interpreted as evidence of estrus in humans: females apparently advertise their fertility status to males in some manner. This find earned its authors the 2008 Ig Nobel Prize in Economics.

Any young woman who pays attention to her cycle will tell you that she gets more (and more intense) attention from males around her ovulatin' days.

The other side of the coin is that young women who don't pay attention to the cycle seem to be more likely to pick up/be picked up during those days.

I don't know if there's any scientific evidence for it; but you're hornier, and something--maybe pheromones, maybe just your attitude--makes the guys around you hornier, when you're at your most fertile.

Mama Nature stacks the deck.

I've encountered more than few brain fuse moments from the pong of an uncorked hamper, usually while taking a messy leak. Closer inspection always revealed female, ages 14-20.

What was she doing in the hamper?

"What about the ladies that prefer ladies?"

I think the cues may be the same.

Since women living in close association tend to synchronize their cycles, the implications for college dorms are

...full of potential lesbian porn. Which males enjoy for some reason. I'll not claim to be immune.

Really? Hmm. Doesn't do a thing for me.
