I can't get too upset about it, Phreddy. If you're talking about a population that doesn't understand how germs or viruses are transmitted and when you have right-wing whack jobs jumping up and down when we try to make condoms available to them, then this is a decent approach. It sounds silly but it really does make a huge difference.
Unicef has been promoting hand-washing - simple hand-washing - as a way to promote health and cut down on disease transmission in much of the Third World and even US studies show that when hand-washing is practiced regularly here in this country, disease rates fall.
If it costs 800,000 bucks to convince guys to wash up after sex - or before sex for that matter - and it cuts down on their need for far more expensive medicines and healthcare afterward, it's not a problem.
