The trees in back are tipping about 30 degrees and the earth around the crack has rose about 5 feet with other little fissures spreading out from center.

All of the comments have some theory about what could be happening, but I like this guy's the most:
We are about to be exposed to the increased gravity of the Dark Rift at the center of the Milky Way. Recall that our Milky way has at its center a spinning black hole. The spin causes the mass to flatten out and when you cross the flatter plane, you meet much larger gravity. We are being exposed to the stronger gravity of the Dark Rift.
