Once lived in a commune where half of the characters were seriously pre-stonewall gay (well it was just before it in 69).  There was Mz Ricardo-rita, Hispanic Queen from East L.A. Pink Pink Pink br, with mirrors on all the walls facing the pink bed with pink walls and all..... Ricardo-rita was a bitch in the truest of terms. 

Calvin was our resident black gay-man (our Aladdin always reminds me of...), with just a bit of the girlish...  Dashikis, jungle prints, zebra skinned fabrics, afro-centrik to the max in his part of the place.  Jungle music pumping out of the boudoir if he made a catch down at the local club.   Screams, hoots, hollers and recrimination the next day.  One can never have too much afro-sheen.
