In fact, that philosophy is probably more true now that we've raised a couple of generations of pussies who can't take a little bullying, have never been told they're not good enough, always win a prize in every competition even if they suck, and have been led to believe they're special and worthy of admiration without merit.
That makes them extra susceptible to treachery.

Bull shit - I've watched enough kids mope while the other team gets the trophy; in fact we have a grudge match Saturday against the team that knocked us out last year, the boys might be 14 but they haven't forgotten.

Well, I'm glad your kids are in a league where they can learn the sting of failure.
One of the local soccer leagues here will count a loss against your team if you beat the opposing team by 5 goals or more.
