"Many said they did not feel comfortable repealing a measure approved by voters, which has never been done." They will say it's the will of the people if they succeed, the dictating bastards. Maybe this should go into another thread, but when CPAC cheers supporting a dictator and cheers more for jailing journalists, then their true colors are on display.

The Republican Party has a base determined to control everybody's private life, and an elite determined to reduce the population to economic serfdom.  Even the few things they say that I agree with appear to be window dressing in order to get the gullible sheeple to vote for them.

Edit:  Sadly, the Democrats are not very attractive as an alternative.  America needs a multiparty system; I think more people would find a party they could get behind, and the population would be more politically involved.

It's true they aren't very attractive, except in contrast to the alternative.

Sadly, the medical marijuana supporters are going to have to buy themselves some politicians.

Which now that you mention it probably explains the situation: shaking down the shake.

Honestly, Dusty, your comparison of Republicans to festering pustules is childish and inappropriate. I'll take a festering pustule over a Republican any day of the week.

With a little pain and some antibiotics, festering pustules can be healed.

Personally I believe all drugs should be legal for adults.  However, the medical marijuana industry is rife with marginal activities.  In California "doctors" are setting up traveling clinics where they issue marijuana recommendations.  Pay the cash, get the recommendation.  These aren't real prescriptions, so they aren't held accountable.  Also, the cooperatives are simply dealers.  Take this quote from the story, "With over 48,000 licensed growers and 28,000 patients".  The fact that there are almost twice as many licensed growers as their are patients should tell you something.  Just legalize the stuff and get all the shady characters out of the business.

I agree about legalization. But I would like to point out that the numbers of licensed growers to patients ratio is the fault of whoever issues permits to the growers. Sounds more like a greed motivation than a medical one. I am certain there is a fee tacked on to the growers license application.

Phreddy - Where there is money there will always be shady characters.  However "shady," I wish they could set up their traveling medicine shows here in Virginia.

Big sky country is being brought low by its republican legislature.

Shady covers a lot of ground, and comes in many shades, no pun intended. I too have a medical marijuana card, and if I were back in the States I can say for certain that it would take AT LEAST two growers just for me.

There is actually some truth to Mr. Tall's claim; most medical marijauna laws place limits on the amounts that can be grown.  So with "shrinkage", etc. the actual amount produced for consumption may require multiple growers to support one avid patient.

You gotta wonder how many representatives who voted on this bill, did so after a 5-martini lunch with a couple of beer chasers.

Because we all know, marijuana is the gateway to HELL, but getting all liquored up is just old-fashioned manly.

Does anyone really still practice that ancient Judeo-Christian Mythology?

I mean come on - a magical flying zombie guy is the face of their religion?

Speaking of religion

It's becoming a deep pattern: 1) The extreme-rightwing/religious-nutjob faction get away with something because no one in their right mind would conceive that anyone could stoop so low and still expect to be believed, 2) People catch on and most don't fall for THAT trick again, and 3) Rinse and repeat.
