Next up, to the shores of Tripoli.
Hey, Dhal.

I hear the four civilians on that ship were missionaries. Seems they may have been pushing bibles at every port.
Hard to call, this one.

Nice - glad to see that Arm-chair quarterbacking is still fashionably in style; next up - reality TV where Choad shows how to deter pirates whilst ridding the world of Nukes.
Hey big man, where the fuck have you been for the last fifty years?

As one of my white friends said, "rich white people think they are invincible." The FBI would not have been necessary had they not decided to veer into hostile waters. I give the FBI a complete pass.

Just posting links, not investing in them.

Don't tell Fnord.....
...and the fundi's are just are paranoid.
I am as well; but I'm mean and nasty - trending more towards Dhal than Fnord.

Eh? You created the connection, those who embrace reality understand that these are just men who are tasked with an incredibly difficult job. I applaud them for rolling the dice and lament the failure of their gambit; had they been correct we never would have heard of them.
We may soon have to follow Presley O'Bannon's example and torch a few villages to get our point across.

The owners were fundies, the two crew were not according to my sources. Even so, and obnoxious as they may well have been they didn't deserve to be murdered.

I have little sympathy for the hostages, but I'm displeased that we didn't do what the Russians do when they board pirates caught in the act... free them.

Of course, if would be easy to prevent piracy off Somalia: we could just not have sent commercial fleets to net every fish off the coast.

Simply tell the Somalis that any small craft more than five miles offshore will be presumed to be a pirate ship instead of a fishing boat and will be sunk, no questions asked.

True that they've had their fisheries raped, but I'd lend more weight to that excuse if they were targeting foreign fishing vessels.

It's not an excuse, but an explanation. They've been left with no legal way to earn money, and boats. Sending Rambo in to blast the villages apart won't help the situation much.

I agree. That's a hell of an idea. Give them time to think about shit while they are dying of thirst and exposure.

Thanks for posting something cool ,choad. It's fun to have a topic of interest instead of sifting through all of the bullshit fnord pollutes the board with and Tall Paul responds to because he craves attention.

Ill dust off this old nugget.
Really, if the FBI wants to send one of it's professional hostage negotiators, they should at least give him the authority to give them some money and not arrest the pirate captain.

275 miles out is hardly off the coast; I believe this would qualify as "the high seas"
