Religions original moorings were the phenomenom of skinny weak freaks gaining tribal power through the ability to orate mixed with a few cheap parlor tricks. The parlor tricks became more complicated over time but the foundation for religion is the lack of knowledge and the dark ages of knowledge officially ended with the advent of the printing press.

Who said anything about Jesus and whether or not he liked to slurp pussy? This has to do with organized religion no longer being a force for social cohesion, for the transmission of values (don't molest the neighbors' kids or poison their dogs, that sort of thing), and no longer providing people with comfort in the face of life’s trials. While there’ve always been assholes who used religion to line their own pockets, more and more that’s all religion is about.
