It's not exactly entrapment, and it only works on the stupid so I'm all for this technique.

However, JOE KOVAC JR needs to stop reading romance novels.

Had the souls detained and searched cared to turn and look back down the ramp, they could scarcely have missed noticing -- too late as it were -- the hot-red “Wrong Way” sign staring back at them

Good question. Take a lesson kiddies...

It is a fine way to drum up a little revenue too.

But, you have to realize that if you have to go through a checkpoint there is nothing the officer can say or do to prove that they have consent to search your personal belongings or your vehicle. There is no probable cause whatsoever that they can bring to bear to look in your purse, glovebox, back seat or trunk. You have to provide your license and vehicle registration and then shut your trap. Never answer questions about where you have been, where you are going or what you have been doing. There are NO right answers that can't be made to look bad in court.
