I not sure where to start.
I am neither a twat nor a hippy [sic].

The Weather Report song is from the first album, perhaps a classic, the only one worth listening to.
So...  check it out mate, go fuck yourself.

I checked it out, I think it's lame. That doesn't make me ignorant, it just makes me discerning, mate

Even when studied, music is subjective after a bit.

Tell me where the muzak includes what I played.

Music being subjective and all, if you don't hear the muzak in Weather Report then I can't point it out to you. I'm probably mistaken in using the "muzak" label, but what I hear is pointless bland noodling to no effect (as opposed to other esteemed "giants" such as John Coltrane, who noodles ferociously but just as pointlessly)

It makes you one of those people who have bad taste in music.

It seems Gray wants to keep his music simple.  No problem with that, just a problem with his closed mind.  (The "noodling" label is a give-away.)  If you don't get it, or it does nothing for you, that's fine.  Just leave it at that.

Fled, baby (and Paul, too) - it's personal taste. I can describe what I don't like about some music, and "noodling" is a perfectly adequate description - if that word offends you maybe it says more about you than me.

As for "simple" music, I'll offer you this in a spirit of forgiving:

Electricity

for Fnordie

Not something I seek or need from you, although I'll take the gesture as friendly.

The term "noodling" gets over-used, often by people who just don't like instrumental music or don't like improvisation.  Those people tend to rule out whole genres of music.  Your comments on Coltrane suggested, to me, that you may be one of them.  His soloing was rarely pointless; to the contrary, it was quite focused.

In the spirit of live-and-let-live (and if not, just-shut-the-fuck-up), I offer this.

Edit - I realize that this clip is neither improvisation nor aleatory.

Wow, you guys are even more prone to generalisations than me!

"Noodling" for me is the endless and often pointless meandering around the scales (or in Coltrane's case, away from the scales). I'm actually quite happy with instrumental music (though unmoved by most classical music) and am a great fan of improvisation.

I guess I just don't see how many sacred cows have gained such reputations. The emperor often has no clothes. And, frankly, it's so easy to get a reaction by criticising someone like Saint Frank Zappa.

I'm prefectly willing to concede my favourites aren't for everyone, but I won't hold them up as paragons like some do with their own favourites.

Did someone say Paragons?

A little bit instrumental, a little bit improvisational, hold the gefilte fish:

Jems?????

Dictionary.com:

jem

noun
a terrorist organization founded in 2000; a militant Islamic group active in Kashmir and closely aligned with al-Rashid Trust; seeks to secure release of imprisoned fellow militants by kidnappings [syn: Jaish-i-Mohammed]

gem

noun
1. a cut and polished precious stone or pearl fine enough for use in jewelry.
2. something likened to or prized as such a stone because of its beauty or worth: His painting was the gem of the collection.
3. a person held in great esteem or affection.

I'll be kind and assume your grade school was bombed by a terrorist organisation founded in 200, and that this (a) stunted your education so you can't spell for shit, and (b) made you respond Pavlov-fashion to any question that may have a terrorist organisation as its answer
