Color photographs, feasible more than 100 years ago, were still rare when I was a kid; expensive and a chronic pain in the ass to develop, more art than science. When the old ones surface now, there's something arresting and alien about them.

Cool stuff. Plus, the chicks are hot back then now that I see them in color.

What really jumped out at me was the general decline in the sartorial choices by the average assembly line worker from then until now. It's obvious that American assembly line workers don't give a flying fuck about their product these days, just look at how they dress on the assembly line:

We stopped knitting homegrown fabrics and stitching clothes. You can still buy the shirt that guy's wearing for $300, retail. Made in Hong Kong.
There were sewing machines in most homes I knew as a kid.

Funny. I just finished sewing a set of curtains for my wife's classroom. I even lined them to block the sun.
I'm legit on the sewing machine, brah.

Respect. I learned to knit, crochet, sew and cook when I was a youngster. Used to sew leather saddlery and upholstery. I can still cook (commercial and residential) but the other skills have pretty much deserted me.
This is where I apologize to the gay community for being heterosexual.

Real men not only eat quiche, they cook it too.
