The best part about that quote is the unintentional irony. Galileo didn't get outvoted by other scientists--a lot of them agreed. He got outvoted by the dogmatic Catholic Church, who couldn't deal with the fact that science contradicted their interpretation of the bible.

Conservatives are especially good at this kind of irony; they are also wholly unaware that they are being ironic.
