the biggest problem at the site is “keeping the conversation on the rails.”

A little slice of small town life for Choad.

Stay safe out there.

Though this was an interesting business model.

After a challenge from more than 30 state attorneys general, Topix stopped charging for the expedited removal of offensive comments — which Jack Conway, the attorney general for Kentucky, said “smacked of having to pay a fee to get your good name back.”

Who says there's nothing to do in small towns except drink and fuck?

And in Dee’s Place, people are not happy. A waitress, Pheobe Best, said that the site had provoked fights and caused divorces. The diner’s owner, Jim Deverell, called Topix a “cesspool of character assassination.” And hearing the conversation, Shane James, the cook, wandered out of the kitchen tense with anger.

They could almost be talking about High Street!

Why would you want to do anything else?

I'm not convinced that applies to any of my sites, especially this one.

In the 4 years since we launched, knock on formica, I've seen not one take down notice, aggrieved email, or legal threat of any description, in spite of R_T and fnord's best efforts. I think I know the reason, too, but none of you will like it.

You are nice people, deviant freaks head to toe and not cruel at all.

You can say the same of my hometown site, where the most challenging reports are fully vetted and are not anonymous at all. The target of all the resulting uproar is me. No one else.

I moved back to this small town to escape the very obnoxious and shameless cunts I found soon after I arrived, recent immigrants from teeming cities to our north, immediately next door to Sofaking's incestral hometown. My neighbors didn't know how to address such rotten behavior and still don't.

I want to say after almost 40 years of reporting I can write this shit on auto, with my eyes closed, but I can't. The world's changing too fast for that. It's a fulltime job that doesn't pay and as long as I stay, I'm stuck with it. Yesterday was it's fifth anniversary.

It's fun to see what happens when people take their whispering campaigns online. Here is a little nugget from one of my hometowns that shows what happens when it gets personal in cyberspace.

But I noticed that the plaintiff never denies the allegations.

Fuck you too.

And many thanks for maintaining a site for us all to vent and spew!
