During a recent life change I jettisoned a vast library collected over decades, including all of my tech books.  Among the handful of books I kept were both The C Programming Language and the Unix Programmer's Manual.  That's because I well remember the joy of understanding the simplicity and elegance and power of unix, learned on a Princeton VAX in a dank basement lab.
