A Pacu is basically a non-carnivorous Piranha. I've kept them before, and a friend recently acquired an 8" specimen. He's already lost a couple big cichlids to it. They don't take chunks out of you like Piranha, but they can actually be more aggressive (at least in captivity) and will bite anything. I understand certain species reach 60 lbs in the wild. If I ever actually swim in the Amazon, I'll be keeping my shorts on anyway as candirú fish really creep me out.
