Damn, I'm glad that I looked.  You enabled "AllOfTheCoolKidsAreDoingIt."  I had disabled that one, and reloaded a corrected copy as "Don'tBeSuchAPussy" due to a typo (More precisely, a stutter) in the original.

And, here's a bit of an oddity:  From the banners page, "Don'tBeSuchAPussy" won't display for me when I click on it; However, I know that the file is fine as I've seen it displayed with no issues.  Not a big deal - Simply odd.

It's because of the apostrophe. And because I am a lazy lazy coder. I have fixed it.

1. Crappy Photoshop images should never accompany 'news' articles.

2. "Juan Montoya, general manager of Klavern #1" is a cracker barrel of laughs.

We're not kinder, or gentler, we're just not trolls who have no one else to abuse but a captive audience. The world deserves derision, and they shall receive it...in abundance.

My only complaint is that bitching at people blaming me for the idiotic remarks due to their failure to notice the "u" cuts into time that could be better spent explaining to Lurker exactly why he is such an insipid cunt.  The kid needs all of the help that he can get, and I'm imagining myself akin to a big brother to him.  You know, the kind of big brother who'll give you a "wedgie" or "swirly" when neither mom nor dad are looking; But, you know damned well that you were simply asking for it.

It may, indeed. I was hoping we might have a "real-world" example to work with, instead of hypotheticals. Let's consider just how much of a right to that particular image Mr. Evans has, shall we?

1. All characters and images for the Rocky Horror Picture Show are property of Twentieth Century Fox. Released in August 1975 (hard to believe, ain't it?), I somehow doubt that the three intervening decades have diminished their desire to make money on it. In actuality, 20th C. Fox has a renewed vigor when it comes to keeping an iron fist on their contemporary products (Family Guy, The Simpsons, et al.), but I'd be willing to defend all RHPS derivations, should the case of 20th C. Fox v. Floorshow hit the circuit courts. In short, if Dr. Furter was free to Mr. Evans, then he's free to me.

2. Mr. Evans did not invent--and is unlikely to have officially licensed--the font "Creepy." It is available from several hundred websites, at no charge, and resembles at least five others I have seen. A font is generally regarded as a graphical element, but with so many knock-offs floating around, one would be very hard pressed to suggest exclusivity. Similarly, the l33t abbreviation of "Oh, really?" is owned by no one.

3. The overall juxtaposition of these items--RHPS character, freebie font, adolescent vernacular--might be regarded as "original," but considering the level of dilution I've just spelled out, there's really no way Mr. Evans (or I, for that matter) could pass it off as such, or utilize it for the purpose of financial gain. One could still mount a suit without affirming a personal loss, but it would not likely be on the grounds of infringement. Add to this the cropping, retouching, and compositing I've done, and I would have the same grounds to argue that it's a new image.

4. Fnord's second teddy is more amusing than the first.

Look here, you yappy, little, Fay . . .  Okay, you've actually a bit of a point there (Try to profile from your lower left jaw-bone up and it should - For the most part - go unnoticed).  I get the feeling that Orangina was feeling a bit hurried as he was surveying the new banners yesterday.  The banners are not a part of my domain; And, setting foot in that particular garden is more likely than not eventually going to lead to Choad and Orangina feeling a bit violated (Resulting - Of course - in they're "coming down on my ass").

That being said:  Fled, I disabled your "typo-ed" banner.  Fix the damned thing already, would you?  We can't have you exciting the "queer folk" so.

Indeed - All that it needs now is a small, tasteful, black and white, image of an angry "Hanson carriage" Coach-Man beating an - At least seemingly - dead horse to give it that much needed bit of warmth.

I'm more likely to drop my tobacco habit "over-night."  Eh, it could be worse.  I only got around to dropping the super-fluous "u"'s as a result of "spell-check."  Hey, if nothing else, you're hardly likely to find me oppressing any Irish (The fact that there are none living in the immediate vicinity being irrelevant to my point).

So? A jury of one seems the only sane way to manage subjective judgement when five people have godly site permissions to over-rule one another's distinctly different tastes.

You'd never know who disapproved your banner.

I don't care WHO approves or disapproves them, as long as someone notices they're there. They've been created almost entirely for the pleasure of other people (despite the fact that few of these tastemakers have defined their fickle interests). While I presume anything I upload is at least technically 'passable,' I'm content if, say, barely one in five is truly well liked. It's not as if I haven't made plenty of back-ups. And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who's putting which ones thru, when you're paying attention.

If, f'rinstance, I had the power to display my own or those of people I liked, then I would specifically avoid doing so. It's not exactly a high crime against humanity, but it neatly avoids the appearance of impropriety. You feelin' me?

MY ego?

No sweat, it's capable of surviving the likes of yours. But let me spell it out, with small words: Cruel is dead. Your screenname is worth the paper it's printed on. If you would like to continue jeering me from the sidelines, posting infrequently, then--by all means--please continue.

I really don't get this fascination with giving me shit for speaking my mind or trying to explain things that might help the site survive. Sure, it's one thing to drop out of the woodwork on occasion to trifle with people you perceive as your inferiors, but you wouldn't survive five seconds if someone asked you to string an original sentence together.

Like it or not, Rogers' little side project-cum-linksite has evolved into a forum, a new online community where, if you're not helping, you're hurting. If you'd like to come out with the opinion that you don't like me and can't stand what I have to say, then at least have the spine to stick with it...and then get over it like you're older than 14.

I will say this one last time: That thing at the top of the page, when complete strangers open it, is very important. When I create something for that purpose, it is for everyone here, including you. I'm not going to snatch my marbles and wander away because you and others don't see that as I do, nor do I expect you to understand. You might still try to stop using this thread to fuck with me when you've provided little to replace the content to which you so clearly object.
